Environmental

Project: River Chelt, Flood Alleviation| Location: River Chelt| Client: The Environment Agency
Project Description:

In July 1997 the Environment Agency published a strategic Environmental Statement which describes in outline the proposals for the whole River Chelt Flood Alleviation Scheme.

Bea Landscape Design was commissioned by the EA to carry out an Environmental Statement for Phase 3 of the Flood Alleviation Scheme with a member of staff seconded to the EA Tewkesbury office for 12 months.

As part of the overall F.A.S. it was intended to improve the public facilities and visual appearance of land bordering the river introducing additional planting to improve wildlife habitats and create a more pleasant, leafy urban environment.

Public footpaths were to be constructed wherever possible along the river course linking the Chelt Walk through to the town centre.
