Project Description:

In 2006 Bea Landscape Design were appointed by the Easter Group to carry out a tree survey at the site of Long Tens Way, in Newton Ayecliffe.

A number of veteran apple trees were subject to a Tree Preservation Order and in agreement with the local planning authority it was agreed to relocate two of the trees prior to commencement of development.

Bea Landscape Design Ltd was commissioned to provide a detailed method statement for approval by the local authority and administer the contract on site.

The works were designed and carried out in accordance with BS 4043:1989 for 'Transplanting root-balled trees' Section Two and supplemented by additional information supplied by the contractor Civic Trees.

A Newman Frame was utilised to assist the lifting of the trees and Mycorrhizal fungi used to improve the soil back fill.  Both trees have successfully re-established in their new positions.
