Bunhill Energy Centre

Bea Landscape Design was appointed as part of the project design team with Tim Ronalds Architects to deliver the Bunhill Energy Centre, a ground breaking innovative scheme retrofitting district heating in an inner city environment on the site of a former car park off Central Street, Islington.

The commission included providing arboricultural & landscape consultancy services with both the hard and soft landscape design of the public open space in order to secure planning permission.

Completed in 2012 the project the network serves over 850 homes and two leisure centres, providing cheaper and greener heat to the residents of Islington.

Doulton Brook River Stour

BEA Landscape Design Ltd. was appointed in 2013 to carry our Arboricultural surveys and conceptual & detailed designs for the externals of this complex 150 unit housing and public open space (POS) development in Stourbridge, West Midlands.

The development included the demolition of the vast Sunrise Medical building which once dominated this site followed by the deculverting (‘daylighting’) of the river Stour.  The practice initially provided conceptual designs for the new river embankments, a new large POS further downstream and a bespoke public art feature using old mill stones found during the excavation works.  This was then followed by detailed landscape proposals for both planning and construction.

The practice worked closely with the client (Taylor Wimpey) and Dudley MBC’s Landscape & Conservations Officers to achieve usable and attractive open spaces on this sensitive historic industrial site.

The works followed on from the design of the externals for the Lion Medical Centre commissioned in 2010.

GRC Solar Farms

Bea Landscape Design Ltd was appointed in 2015 to carry out Tree Surveys, Landscape Appraisals, Photomontages and Detailed Planting Proposals for a number of Solar Farm projects across England and Wales during the 2015 energy subsidy period.  The majority were a minimum of 10hectare/ 5MWp output sites.  Many of the projects were carried out as initial feasibility appraisals only whilst others were submitted as full planning applications and successfully approved.

With the benefit of proposed low level structures, views of many of the proposed schemes were mitigated by gapping up existing hedgerows and introducing additional hedgerow trees, whilst the land beneath the panels were either continued to be grazed by sheep or ecologically enhanced as wildflower meadows.

Aldermore Lane Infrastructure

Bea Landscape Design was originally appointed in 2008 to prepare the conceptual ‘green infrastructure’ landscape proposals for the former Peugeot factory site in Coventry.

Following public consultations, detailed landscape designs were prepared for the new Humber Road (B4110) and Terry Road, together with a large public open space, small pocket parks and large play area.

The practice also provided detailed hard and soft landscape designs for a bus gate and feature junction squares.
